Why is the smart charge session operating outside of off-peak hours?

Modified on Wed, 11 Sep at 5:50 AM

Smart charge schedules offer versatile customization options, including off-peak timing, cost, and energy consumption. Depending on your settings, charging sessions may be initiated outside of the off-peak window. For example, if your target extends beyond off-peak hours, the system may schedule sessions to begin earlier.

  • Realistic Target Setting:
    • Set a practical energy consumption target to optimize off-peak charging benefits. The Electric Miles system calculates the charging schedule based on your target rather than the live state of your battery.
  • Example Calculation:
    • If you aim to consume 40 kWh with a charger output of 7.2 kWh, the app will plan for a session approximately 6 hours long. If your off-peak window is less than 6 hours, the schedule will adjust to start before the off-peak period and maximize its use.
  • Charging Completion:
    • Note that if your battery cannot accommodate the full 40 kWh, charging may stop before the end of the off-peak period. The app will display the charger’s status as 'Suspended EV' when the car can no longer accept charge.
